More than a job - a place that gives back

At BlueScope Western Port, we believe strong businesses are built on strong communities. That’s why we’re actively involved in supporting the people and places around us, including right here in Hastings and across the Mornington Peninsula.

Our local communities are our homes

Our success relies on communities supporting our business and products. In turn, we care for the environment, create wealth, respect local values and encourage involvement. Our strength is in choosing to do what is right.

At Western Port we continue to have a broad impact in the community with our range of initiatives we support. We are committed to the positive contribution we can make to building strong, safe, vibrant and sustainable communities which align with BlueScope’s Purpose and Bond.

BlueScope Western Port’s involvement in our local community and across the Mornington Peninsula is focused towards the environment, diversity, mental health and wellbeing, young people and education activities.

Western Port is committed to supporting our local community by making voluntary financial contributions to eligible community groups running events, projects and activities which contribute to local and regional prosperity, wellbeing and sustainability. Read more about it here.

In-Kind community support

By providing donations to local groups, and ‘In-Kind’ support to our local communities as they support Western Port, we've been able to improve the lives of children in our community as a result of in-kind donations.

Our workforce shares our passion for safe, healthy and happy futures for all kids and recognise that Corporate Social Responsibility is not just a good thing to do, it’s good business.

Health and wellbeing

At Western Port, we are passionate about promoting onsite health & wellbeing initiatives. We seek to enhance the wellbeing of employees with a diverse range of health awareness activities for us to recognise, celebrate and be involved in.

It's about doing what's right, and recognising those who do

It doesn’t just stop there, our people are passionate about giving back too. At Western Port, community involvement isn’t just encouraged, it’s lived every day. Through our Workplace Giving Program, our people voluntarily donate their own funds to causes that matter locally.

Thanks to their generosity:

  • The Point Leo Surf Life Saving Club purchased a new side-by-side vehicle to support beach safety

  • The Den Youth Program received funding to continue its vital work with young people in our region

Because when you work with us, you’re not just building steel, you’re helping build a stronger, safer, and more vibrant community.
