Overview of Digital

At Genomics England we turn science into healthcare using technology. With the consent of participants and the support of the public, we are creating a lasting legacy for patients, the NHS and the UK economy. Initially this was through the sequencing of 100,000 genomes. Now we’re moving toward a future of bringing the insights from deep genomic research to bear on the mainstream of healthcare. What we do is for everyone, free at the point of care via our partnership with the NHS.

To deliver on this mission, we’re changing as an organisation. We’ve moved from functional teams to a model anchored on the services we provide to NHS colleagues and the research and biotech community. We now have multi-disciplinary teams who collaboratively design and build these services. We’re agile, fast-moving, and innovative, and we’re evolving a team that reflects the rich diversity of the communities we serve. If you can bring us the inquisitive nature and excellent people skills we need, we offer you the chance to learn new skills and build a career with an organisation that’s merging modern methods of product/design/service development with science, to make a difference.

Our Products and Services

Our products and services are complex and need to fit into the lives of our users. To do this better we are introducing design and social science research into how we ask the right questions and develop the right outcomes. Our product development questions are tough and as we move into creating better decision support systems, stronger bioinformatics pipelines, new clinician and patient interfaces and savvy environments for our data, we are naturally experimenting with how we apply machine learning, quantum and other technologies in product and service development. Ultimately, we are creating new healthcare ecosystems that will tailor diagnosis and treatment to the individual.

To achieve our mission, we are looking for open-minded problem solvers who want to deliver clinically brilliant, technologically sound, habit forming healthcare product and service experiences.

To the right, our CEO, Chris Wigley, talks about our strategy (11 min watch).
