Early Careers for Graduates

As a graduate at Leidos, you will work on real projects as an embedded and productive team member right from the start. We appreciate that for many, this will be your first experience in the workplace. So, to make sure you are fully set up for success, we also provide extra support, training and networking opportunities during your first year, along with a mentor and buddy to help you navigate your way round our organisation. At the end of the year, our graduates typically continue to work in the area they started in and further develop their strengths and capabilities. Some may wish to explore other opportunities based on their aspirations and the needs of the business. After that, they often progress into technical or managerial positions.

We are a forward-looking organisation and full of seriously smart, approachable people. So there’s plenty of scope to push your boundaries, develop and learn in an environment that’s challenging, supportive and constantly changing. We are creating an inclusive culture that supports exceptional thinking and are looking for incisive minds like yours to help us weave together information technology, engineering and science skills in to practical solutions.

Applications for the 2020 graduate intake are now closed.

The Graduate Recruitment Process

We see this as a chance to find out as much as we can about each other.

Online Application

The process starts with an online application form where we will ask you to answer some questions about yourself and to attach a copy of your academic transcript.

Online Cognitive Assessment

Once we’ve reviewed the online application and decided we’d like to know more about you, we’ll ask you to complete an online cognitive assessment.

Telephone Interview and Personality (Behavioural) Assessment

If you’re successful through the cognitive assessment stage, you’ll receive a telephone call from us to have a chat – this is an opportunity for you to tell us more about yourself whilst answering a few questions. You will also receive an invitation to complete an online personality (behavioural) assessment – this provides us with more information so we can get to know you better.

Face to Face Interview

The last step is then meeting face to face with a line manager and a representative from Human Resources for a behavioural based interview. If you are successful, we will then conduct background checks.

Offer of Employment

From here, we will making offers of employment to commence with us in January 2020.

What our Graduates Say

Jacqueline, Software Engineer Associate, studied Bachelor of Information Technology (I.T. Security)

The people are friendly, work-life balance is great and I’ve been able to move around within the company. I feel as though my work is appreciated and that I’m a valued member of my team. I know I’m doing the right thing when I receive positive feedback from my managers or team members.

David, Graduate Software Engineer, studied Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) (Honours)

Leidos is a large company and therefore has a wide range of different projects and customers, each at a differing stage and involving differing technologies. This means there is always something new and interesting going on, which is exciting to be a part of and provides constant challenges due to the ever changing technologies that we get to use. One of my favourite things about being a software engineer is getting to design the software architecture and solving problems for the first time. I also enjoy learning new program languages and dealing with technologies that I have never used before. I know that this is the right job for me because I still want to write software in my free time, even after a tough work week.

Jaime, Graduate Systems Engineer, studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Leidos is a growing business where things can change quickly, even the basic processes have changed in such a short period of time. While navigating all these changes on top of learning the skills required for the job can be challenging, the learning experience is very rewarding. This shows that Leidos is dedicated to continually improving and being a leader in the field. It is an exciting place to work as there is always heaps of new things to learn, and many opportunities to explore.
