"As a recent graduate of teachers college, I have met many of the challenges that young teachers faced. Ever since kindergarten, I have known that I wanted to be a teacher. I loved teachers college and being immersed in the classroom. However, reality hit hard when I graduated. I always knew getting on the supply list was difficult, but part of me thought, that because I wanted it so bad, I would be an exception. I waited… and waited. Nothing. I missed teaching, I missed the classroom and working with students. Volunteering twice a week just wasn’t enough. I needed to make money, and I wanted to make money doing something I loved: teaching.

That is when I found Prep Academy Tutors. I loved the idea of working with students on a one-to-one basis. Teaching in the classroom was great, but with 30 kids, it was hard to devote time to each individual student. Getting to work with individual students has taught me so much: how to diversify my teaching methods, how to work with students of all ages, how to assess students and establish programs to satisfy their individual needs. But most importantly, Prep Academy Tutors has given me the opportunity to do what I’ve always wanted to do: teach.
