At Uncommon, our dual leadership model ensures both instructional and operational excellence in our schools. Principals and Directors of Operations (DOOs) run our schools together as co-leaders and partners. The Director of Operations tackles the strategy, systems-building, school finances, and all of the details that enable a school to function seamlessly. This allows the Principal to excel as an instructional leader, focusing on coaching and developing teachers.

Uncommon has pathways for those who are passionate about leading outstanding schools via Principal or Operations Fellowships.  Both Principal and Operations Fellowships are paid, full-time, 1-2 year positions within Uncommon Schools.  Most of our full-time Principal and DOO positions are filled internally through the Principal and Operations Fellowship Programs.
