About the Program

Visa's Technology Apprenticeship Program is designed to provide individuals without prior experience the opportunity to pivot their careers into technology roles.  The program aims to further diversify the technology landscape at Visa while upskilling professionals with alternative backgrounds. Each Apprentice begins the program in a 15 week full time classroom style bootcamp. Upon successful completion of bootcamp, Apprentices transition to teams at Visa for the On The Job Training (OJT) portion of their apprenticeship.

About the Teams

During on the job training, Apprentices will be aligned to a team within one of the following teams at Visa:

  • Commercial Money Movement Solutions Product Development: Drives expansion beyond core consumer-to-business payments into broader money movement flows across individuals, businesses, and governments.

  • Cybersecurity: Provides enterprise-wide, risk-based security and continuity programs to meet changing internal and external threat landscapes.

  • Data and AI Platform:  Builds and powers Visa’s core data, analytics, and AI infrastructure—enabling large‑scale model development, real‑time scoring, and data governance across the company.
  • Value Added Services Product Development: Drives the diversification of our revenue with products that differentiate our network and deliver valuable solutions across other rails.

  • Operations and Infrastructure: Responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, scalability, and efficiency of Visa’s global payments network and supporting technology platforms. These teams form the backbone of Visa’s ability to process billions of transactions securely and seamlessly every year for customers, merchants, and financial institutions worldwide.

Hiring Process and Prerequisites

Positions available in the United States (Ashburn, Atlanta, Austin and Denver) & Poland (Warsaw). Recruitment begins in January for a May start date with interviews in March/April.  The interviews will not be technical in nature, but instead focus on assessing candidates' technical interest and aptitude.

Our ideal candidate for the Apprenticeship Program is someone who does not have a four-year degree in a technical discipline (computer science, information systems, cybersecurity etc.). The programs intention is to provide those with other backgrounds  the opportunity to pursue careers as software or site reliability engineers, global operations support specialists and cybersecurity professionals. We look for local candidates with a demonstrated interest in technology and believe that the bootcamp all candidates are immersed in will close any gaps in technical qualifications.

Hear from our apprentices

“This apprenticeship has been life changing, a humongous blessing. As someone who comes from a non technical background, getting a good segue into tech and the tech industry feels like a godsend just because I have never necessarily been the kind of person where I can just go to school all day without working and I found out that going to school for tech, really could take up all your time. It was more or less impossible to do that without going into debt. I really like Visa and Apprenti’s program that allows you to kind of segue into the tech field without having to have a computer science degree.”
