The lifeblood of Hato Hone St John

We started out as a voluntary organisation and today about 70% of our workforce are volunteers; a mighty team of 8,000 remarkable individuals doing important mahi (work) across a diverse range of roles. From operating health shuttles to teaching first aid, providing medical services and crewing ambulances, to helping in our retail stores, and visiting people in care homes. We even welcome our four-legged friends as part of our therapy pets programme!

We couldn't do it all without the energy and generosity our volunteers.

Experience the rewards of giving back

There are so many ways to get involved, and the work you do makes a huge difference to kiwis across the motu, and there’s lots of benefits in it for you too!

As a volunteer with Hato Hone St John, you'll acquire new skills, forge lifelong friendships, and contribute to delivering essential health and community services throughout Aotearoa. Joining our team means receiving comprehensive training, ongoing support, exclusive benefits, discounts, wellbeing resources, and more.

Studies show that volunteering provides a host of benefits, from enhancing mental and physical well-being to expanding social circles, and developing a deep sense of fulfilment through positive community contributions. Discover the joys of volunteering with us!

Don't take our word for it!
