When she’s not traveling to Russia for a leadership workshop or representing Tradeshift at developer events in Romania, Diana is based in our Bucharest office as an Engineering Manager working on the Tradeshift marketplace apps team. She joined Tradeshift more than two years ago when we opened our Bucharest office and has been part of the incredible growth of our once small team in Romania. We talked with Diana about her journey at Tradeshift and how she has the freedom to learn and grow and develop her career.
What do you look forward to every day you go to work?
First of all, I'm really excited to see our office grow. We started small, but continue to grow and develop our team here in Bucharest. I’m also excited to see how the whole company’s strategy will develop in the future, what new apps will be, and what flows we'll get to build for our customers.
On a more specific level, I'm excited to work with such an amazing team, full of very smart, inspiring and great people. My team is a diverse group of people that are always willing to help each other out and because of that there’s a great work atmosphere that creates a positive vibe at the office. I honestly look forward to coming in every day to such a vibrant community.
What professional growth have you experienced since working at Tradeshift?
When I transitioned to Tradeshift, I was a project manager on the supplier integration team. And when I wanted to continue growing in my career, Tradeshift encouraged me to take that next step. I joined the engineering department in Bucharest as a project manager and then moved on to become an engineering manager. What’s great about Tradeshift is that it’s a company where you really have the opportunity to learn from and about other teams — you have easy access to a lot of knowledge that people are happy to share. It’s really the perfect environment for anyone that wants career growth.
What have you learned at Tradeshift that you would tell a new employee?
I’d tell them that you really get to make a difference. People are very open and receptive to new ideas and ways to improve our processes. And there’s a lot of transparency, no matter the role or position in the company. So don’t be afraid to ask questions: everyone is willing to help answer any of your questions about the way things are done.
And along those lines, don’t be shy about continuously learning at Tradeshift. You have the freedom to learn to speak up, be more assertive and make mistakes. And finally, we have snacks and beers.
