What was your path to Tradeshift?
I joined Tradeshift in May 2017 from IBX. Shortly after Tradeshift acquired IBX, I started working on a brand new project on the Tradeshift platform and quickly took over a second project. I am currently the team lead and Engineering Manager for the Collaboration project, based in Tradeshift’s Bucharest office.
How does working for Tradeshift cultivate motivation and growth?
First and foremost, I would say working at Tradeshift challenges me every day, because there’s always something new to learn, both from a technical and a people-oriented perspective. This keeps me pushing my comfort zone and gives me the chance to expand my skills in multiple areas.
What have you learned at Tradeshift that you would tell a new employee?
Working at Tradeshift encourages you to become the best version of yourself. You will sometimes feel like you're sailing on rough waters, with no compass or maps. But you're determined to reach your destination, so you focus all your skills towards that goal, you keep close to your teammates and you make adjustments on the way. You’re ultimately responsible for your work and making sure it gets done, but you have the support of your team to make sure you’re successful. So if I want to see something happen, I need to put in the work, make a plan, figure out the arguments and the numbers, identify and persuade the stakeholders, push things forward as much as possible and follow up at every step.
What do you look forward to every day you go to work?
Building strong working relationships with my colleagues, based on mutual trust and respect. To me, there is nothing better in this world than the feeling of a team coming together towards a common goal. And then you get the satisfaction of marking all those tasks as done.
